Back to the Original ME!

Well like I said I went back to the beauty shop and had my beautician take that stuff out my hair and I feel great. I've decided for the summer heat to try and keep my hair braided, so no damage is done. Enclosed is a picture back to my original self =)

Last Day in June 2010

Hey, everyone well I did the ultimate with my hair by adding in some tracks etc. I have had this done for about a week and to go without saying (I truly miss my Napz!).
Therefore, come tomorrow (Thursday July 1st) I'm taking this out!
My excuse to do this was to give my hair a break due to this TX heat and truthfully, now I have learned that I can do other things to protect my hair without having to add extensions. I'm like wait a minute I can wear cornrolls, I can flip my hair into any style by wearing my own.
Stayed Tuned =)

Ready Set Action

Hey Dayz,

June 2010, I haven't posted any blogs so here is my up to date post. I went back home to Washington State to see my brother's graduation. It was great and quite an experience, because I haven't been back to the evergreen state since 2000. I haven't seen majority of my family members in nearly 10 years. I was a bit nervous, because I knew I was going to go out there rocking my fro and I didn't know how my family was going to react. To my surprise, I don't know if everyone liked it, but my grandmother sure did. She was so impressed with me going back to my natural state and her enthusiam was more than enough to make me feel proud in my own inner self.

I recently had a conversation with a girlfriend of mines last month and she was talking about how she was annoyed with her naps and as soon as she saw some growing she would immediately perm it, but she has been doing it for a long time now and her hair is starting to thin out. With this in mind she continued to tell me how she wish she was mixed and that her hair wasn't kinky and she wouldn't have to tend to the daily struggle with her hair. As I continued to listen to her story about her hair, I could only reflect on how I use to complain the same way. I told her she has to do what she feels most fit. I told her since my transformation, I have grown to love my hair and not despise it as I once did. I told her she has to overcome that fear that our hair is not bad and not to feel that way, but to embrace your natural beauty and learn to work with what you have.

Well this week people, I'm going to braid my hair up for the remainder of the summer because the heat is having a tough stroll on my head. I will continue to post blogs, but just note that I will not be wearing my own hair at least for the next two months to give my hair a little break. Here is a picture of me currently at work, I did the two stand twist (big ones) with AfroVeda Hemp Seed and Cantu Shea Butter and it gave my hair extreme volume..I absolutely Love It! =)

PS. I get alot of people asking me where I purchase my products. I get them at 3 Sisters Beauty Supply in Plano, TX off on W. Parker/Coit...enclosed is their website:
www.3sistersbeautysupply.com
I know pretty soon they will start selling products online =)

My Friend Regina Big Chop

My Friend Regina did the big chop yesterday on 5/11/2010: Enclosed is a mini statement from her blog:

Today I went into my bathroom and chopped off all of my relaxed hair. I had been transitioning my hair since December, so with about 5 months of growth I decided to take the plunge and just cut it off. The resources I relied heavily on during this process are Natural Chica, Black Girl With Long Hair blog and site, Natural Hair Rules, and Naturally Curly.

My First Fro Hawk

On Saturday 4/24/10, I bought this new product for my hair called 'Afroveda-Purr Whipped Jelly' with the intent that it would hold the tight curls down in place (check out video link--http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra5R2YvaLTA&feature=channel). It was my first experience using this product and I really wanted to try my first fro hawk. Well enclosed is a snapshot of day 3 with the fro hawk. I wasn't too impressed with my results, but it was my first experience so I guess for someone like me that doesn't like to do hair too much it didn't come out too bad.

It was worth a shot, this was my look on Monday at work and let me tell you I definitely need to redo my hair aSAP. Maybe I will try and do it again tonight. Naww, I'm too sleepy possibly tomorrow.
