Nappy Dayz and Skin Care

I wanted to talk briefly about maintaining your skin care while being in your natural state. I have never experienced bad skin until hmmm till I went natural with my hair. I went to see an dermatologists and I didn’t want to use chemicals to harm my skin and most importantly I didn’t want to spend a whole lot of money on that stuff. A friend of mines was telling me to try out a product called Philosophy, I was skeptical because these products were also costly. I decided to give it a try before trying what the dermatologist prescribed. My forehead was experiencing the most trouble as well as my cheeks, as you can see in the first picture.

I purchased the Philosophy “Great Skin is In” kit, the first 3 weeks of using this stuff I didn’t notice really any changes in my skin. As most individuals with skin problems, I wanted a quick fix and I was frustrated because I just spent nearly $70 dollars and no immediate results. Then I decided to give Philosophy one more try and I went out and purchased there Micro-delivery Peel kit, after using this product for 4 weeks 2 times a week—I noticed a change in my skin.

I am by no means recommending you try Philosophy, but it did work for me and I know for certain it doesn’t work for all skin types. I had a girlfriend go through the same process with Philosophy and she had no success. What I do recommend is that you find a product that works for you and stick with that same product for at least 2 months before switching to something else. Make sure to take your vitamins and drink plenty of water. If you live in hot climates, I strongly recommend you wear an SPF, before stepping outside to do your daily routines—wearing a sun block will prevent dark discolorations (blackheads) in the skin especially if you have acne prone skin.

The picture posted above is my experience using the Philosophy product with the result.

Benefits of Cassia

I went to a seminar 2 weeks ago and watched how people applied Henna and Cassia to their hair. I had heard about Henna before (however not Cassia), I never knew in depth details about the benefits that both products could provide. After getting informed about the products, I was eager to start off and give 'Cassia' a try. At the end of this email, I will provide you a link you can visit to find out more information on Cassia.
My experience with Cassia so far is not favorable as far as the process only. It's messy, messy, messy...I prepared the mix, then applied it to my hair Friday evening. Saturday morning, I woke up and washed it out, then I did a deep conditioning for about 30-45 mins, after that I styled my hair. What I can say my hair felt softer and my scalp felt rejuvenated, I like the results =)...Please, please, forgive this picture, I just woke up and I wanted to snap a picture so everyone could see how the Cassia looks on your hair (I'm in the 4 hair type ranges). If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message.

Thanks

Happy Black History Month

As I reflect on this journey and truly begin to think about what "Black History Month" means to me; it is a reflection of my ancestors and the journey they lead to allow us to be at during this current moment.

The first things that comes to my mind is:
courage
strength
freedom
wisdom
pain
beauty

I only hope that as African Americans we remeber those who fought and strived to enables us to become the best people that we can be =)
